Diamonds Versus Cubic Zirconias (CZ's)

Let us start by saying that high quality cubic zirconias (CZ's) can look, when new, extremely clear and sparkly. They are also significantly cheaper than diamonds, both natural and lab grown.
In fact, for costume jewellery and pieces that may only be worn very occasionally, they often represent a viable and more affordable alternative to the real thing.
But as with most things in life, you pay for what you get. And with a Pobjoy diamond belly ring you get something that really makes a statement.
Nevertheless, it can be challenging to accurately portray the substantial differences between a CZ and a diamond through digital media alone.
Video reels and images never quite capture a diamond's vitality and brilliance.

It is only when you see a superior grade, excellent cut diamond in person (whether natural or lab grown) that the differences can truly be appreciated.
And this contrast between the two becomes even more apparent when they are positioned side by side.
So is a diamond belly ring worth the extra expense? It is only once you have one that you will know what you've been missing.

The Key Takeaways
Diamonds (natural & lab grown) are cut with at least 57 facets, creating breathtaking sparkle and dancing white light refractions
A CZ stone contains less facets and therefore less brilliance
Diamond factes are cut with incredible precision and sharpness, accentuating scintillation and sparkle
Because a CZ is essentially glass, it is impossible to replicate this standard of cut, which produces multi coloured, less defined sparkle
Diamonds are extremely hard and resilient to fractures and abrasions
A CZ is vulnerable to cracking, scratches and scuffing
The molecular structure of a diamond makes it resilient to corrosive chemicals, synthetic lotions, sweat, salt, water and extreme temperatures. It's appearance will never change
A CZ will degrade when exposed to external elements, chemicals and lotions. It's appearance will deteriorate over time
