ENGAGEMENT RING STYLES
Choose from round brilliant cut (RBC), princess cut, oval, cushion and marquise shape diamonds from our customised solitaire range. Our solitaire diamond rings start from 0.25 carats and are available in a wide variety of grades and specifications to suit your requirements and budget.
Most of our solitaire diamonds are GIA certified due to the integrity of the grading. The GIA is widely considered the most respected and reliable of the gemological grading institutes.
SOLITAIRE & DIAMOND SET SHOULDERS
This style of diamond ring embraces the classic solitaire raised above diamond set shoulders to add additional light animation with minimal distraction from the centre stone. The grade of diamonds set upon the shoulders are as per the customers preference and are typically channel, micro-claw or grain set. Wide selection of certified centre diamond specifications.
HALO WITH PLAIN SHOULDERS
The halo diamond ring with plain shoulders focusses attention upon the centre of the ring with the surrounding halo combining with the centre stone to create a more substantial 'face up' coverage. This can be particularly effective when pairing a more modest carat weight centre stone with substantial halo set diamonds in acheiving a more generous overall visual diamond effect.
HALO WITH DIAMOND SET SHOULDERS
For maximum diamond coverage and visual impact the halo and shoulders style is hard to beat. Perhaps better suited to larger finger sizes and best worn up against a shaped or cutaway ring a well chosen combination of centre diamond and surrounding diamond grade will result in a ring with significant impact.
The diamond trilogy ring is becoming more popular and increasingly bought as a 'right hand ring'. Whether set with a large centre stone and two smaller stones to either side or with three identical carat diamonds the trilogy ring can be with plain shoulders or with a diamond halo and shoulders design.
COLOURED GEMSTONE WITH DIAMONDS
Rings featuring a centre coloured gemstone such as a sapphire or ruby claw set within a diamond halo and sometimes diamond set shoulders are also increasing in popularity. Now recognised more widely as an engagement ring they also offer the flexibility of being worn on either hand and for any reason!

HOW MUCH SHOULD I SPEND?
However much you can comfortably afford. The commonly referred to yardstick when buying for your loved one is often touted as being one month of your income. Like many of these so called 'rules' this was an invention of a well known jewellery brand back in the 1960's to encourage greater expenditure.
We recommend starting off by establishing the style and shape of the engagement ring you feel she or he will love and enjoy wearing for many years to come. Also consider what it will be worn with, the precious metal colour and the type of lifestyle of the recipient. Once you have a clearer idea (remember we are here to assist you) the size and grade of the diamond or setting can be better established and inevitably guided by price considerations.
You do not need to break the bank to purchase an exceptionally high quality diamond ring from Pobjoy. We will work with you to provide the most suitable ring and within your budget. And remember you will also receive loyalty reward points from us if you make a purchase which gives you discounts on our other ranges in the future.
By the way the 'average' diamond engagement ring spend in the UK is approximnately £1,600.
HOW DO WE KEEP OUR PRICES SO LOW?
The Pobjoy family benefit from strong relationships and significant experience within the diamond and fine jewellery industry dating back several decades.
Although we provide a visitors suite here in Surrey we do not operate high street boutiques with their associated high running, staffing and insurance costs.
Our responsive business model requires us to hold much less inventory than traditional retailers which also significantly reduces our capital costs.
Even with these lower costs we also thrive on lower margins through highly competitive retail pricing and associated higher volumes.
These factors result in greater savings being passed on to our customers who we hope to welcome back for many years to come.
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT DIAMONDS
THE 4 C'S
All our diamond rings are supplied to you with independently certified documentation. Each document provides the key specifications of your chosen diamond including shape, weight, colour, clarity, polish, symmetry, fluorescence, table, depth, culet, date certified and other specific characteristics.
We also keep electronic copies of each certificate on file for your future reference as and when required.
DIAMOND SETTING GRADES
Diamond settings refer to the diamonds featured in halo rings and those with diamond shoulders. The diamonds we use are of a superior quality and lustre finished with the Raphael Cut which adds an extra dimension to the overall radiance of the ring. With most of our range you can choose in which diamond grade the setting of your ring is finished. We provide a Hatton Garden Diamond Laboratory certificate to verify this.
Diamonds of D and E colour on the grading scale are extremely clear and white and are at the top of the colour chart. The clarity grade of VS signifies Very Slight inclusions such that to the naked eye the natural 'birthmarks' of the diamond cannot be seen. Indeed, even under ten times maagnification they are hardly visible to the human eye.
Diamonds of F and G colour are evry clear and white as the diamonds we use tennis bracelets are without fluorescence they are full of life. The clarity grade of VS signifies Very Slight inclusions such that to the naked eye the natural 'birthmarks' of the diamond cannot be seen. Indeed, even under ten times maagnification they are hardly visible to the human eye.
Diamonds of G and H colour are also clear and white as the diamonds we use in our tennis bracelets are without fluorescence. The Si1 clarity denotes slightly included. While such inclusions will be slightly more visible than VS graded diamonds under ten times magnification the human eye would find it exteremely difficult to notice such marks until clarity Si2.
